Just Do It!
This week has been slightly more productive at work. It seems we are slowly beginning to notice a little progress with the backlog of work. Hopefully that progress will continue.
Today I enjoyed the first strawberry from my strawberry pot. In order to get it before the birds, I picked it a couple of days ago, before it was quite ripe. It ripened nicely at room temperature. I'm hoping to grow a larger patch next year--maybe I could plant them in an Earth Box.
I have acquired a couple more interests this week--it seems I barely start one project or pursue one interest before I have become interested in something else. New interests this week--visiting an authentic English tea room and sketching. I think it would be so much fun to dress up, including hat and gloves, and have a tea party. As for sketching, I have no talent whatsoever, but that doesn't matter. In fact, I think stick people and child-like drawings have a certain charm about them. Maybe I could do some sketches on one of my artist's dates.
I am making a little progress on my 101 tasks. I made a newborn hat for Baby A. However, I'm sure it is too small; so, I will have to rip it out and start over. But at least I made the hat. It was the first time I had crocheted in a long time, and I really enjoyed it.
I also completed one of the Great Courses DVDs--The Science of Natural Healing. The course has inspired me to eat better and continue my exercise regimen, adding some resistance training to the mix. It has also sparked yet another interest--the healing power of touch. I have a couple more books to add to my wishlist.

Busy Week
This past week has been a busy one and the coming week promises to be the same. Little new to report, except I have been giving serious consideration to retiring December 31, 2014--just a year and a half from now! That means only 556 instead of 972 days. It is certainly an exciting possibility.

When I Retire...
When I retire, I'm going to _________________ (fill in the blank). For years, I've been saying this. But today I have decided I don't have to wait until retirement to start doing some of the things I've been looking forward to doing. So today I am making a "When I Retire" list and I'm going to start now doing things from the list. Here goes...
When I retire I want to:
Bake bread
Make cinnamon rolls
Make pizza from scratch
Sew
Crochet
Play the piano
Plant a garden
Grow my own strawberries
Sip coffee on my kitchen deck
Watch the sunrise
Write
Journal
Scrapbook
Pursue my interest in photography
Take more pictures
Learn to use photo-editing software
A pretty lengthy list, wouldn't you say?
This week's project from my WIRL is crocheting. I picked up some yarn today and have chosen a couple of baby hats I'd like to make. It's going to be a busy week at work, but hopefully I will have the energy and enthusiasm to begin my crochet project. After all, this is a very special project--it's for a grandbaby are expecting in about 50 days!

Planning the Journey
Only four days of work this week, due to Memorial Day on Monday. The rest of the week was very busy, though. After work on Tuesday, we celebrated with a co-worker whose last day of work was on Wednesday. Between trying to finish some of the files she had started as well getting end-of-month things done, the work week passed pretty quickly.
As with any journey, half the fun is in the planning. My 1000 day journey is no exception. I've enjoyed thinking about some of the things I want to do during the next1000 993 days. My project for this week was a fairly simple one--made a schedule. I felt a schedule was important to keep me on track with chores and ensure I carve out some "me time" on a regular basis.
Typically for me, I struggled with what should have been a simple, quick task--obsessing over details, striving to create the perfect schedule. At last, I have completed a schedule, assuring myself it is a work- in- process and can be changed as needed to accomodate my interests and obligations.
Another exciting step I took this week was making a decision to visit Washington D.C. with a travel club. I have a few weeks to get ready for the trip and hopefully, will practice taking pictures so I will feel comfortable with my almost two-year-old "new" camera for shooting (poor word choice) some of the Washington sights.
My assignment for this week is to make a "When I Retire" list (I'm so excited--have I mentioned how I love making lists) and then choose one item from the list to start working on. Should be a lot of fun!
